We’ve all been there, stuck with an idea that just won’t leave our heads. Sometimes this ideas can turn into amazing business opportunities. Think about Google, Apple, and Microsoft. They all started with an idea, they all began as startups.
If you believe your idea has the potential to become the next amazing startup use these 10 tips to make it a reality:
Just start!
The trick is to do it like it’s homework. That means you have to limit your tasks to the quantity of actions you want to take on a day without overwhelming yourself. For example, in one day you register your name and open your domain. When you start to delete stuff from your to-do list, you’ll see how much you have accomplished.
This idea needs to be your passion:
Ask yourself two questions: Do I believe in this? Do I want to work on this for a long term period? If the answer to both is yes, then you have the drive to create the best project you can. The road to startup is not paved with roses, so this is why you HAVE TO LOVE YOUR IDEA.
Set a start date:
Avoid paralysis by analysis. There’s a lot of data on the Internet, enough to stall you in the analysis phase. Do you research, but set a “stop researching date.” Create a project plan with real due dates and let the execution begin.
Recognize when you need help:
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Identify a group of advisors who have knowledge about your field. Set a meeting and bring a list of questions. Learn from their mistakes, listen to their advice. Developing your project with the best resources is a way to ensure its success.
Don’t be afraid of having a partner:
Building your own business is hard work, and chances are you’re going to need a partner. Find a person you can trust who has skills your project needs to become a reality.
If you need to hire, be modest at first:
You have many alternatives like subcontractors you can test first. Going crazy with possible employees can destroy your startup dreams, so start slow until you have the financial freedom and really need to increase your workforce. And in that note…
Find great writers:
Customers, investors and the media need to understand what your startup is all about, so you’ll need someone with excellent communication skills. It doesn’t matter what this person does in your startup, always find someone with great writing skills that can express ideas in a concise and clear manner.
Learn from the competition:
Your competition is your best school in what works, what doesn’t and what needs to be different. Embrace them.
Learn from your consumer:
Once you start, always ask for your consumer’s feedback. LISTEN! It will improve every aspect of your product or service and that can result in growth.
Be fearless!
Yeah, it sounds like the most annoying cliché, but it is a necessary mantra. What’s the worst thing that could happen if you try? An entrepreneur lives a life of risks and failing comes with invaluable lessons for your next endeavor.
Do you think your idea has potential? Start planning! You might be the next Steve Jobs in the making.
