Parallel18 partners with HubSpot for Startups

Today, Parallel18 announced that it has joined HubSpot for Startups as a certified accelerator. HubSpot, a leading inbound marketing and sales platform, works hand-in-hand with accelerators and their startups to grow their businesses through inbound software, services, and support as a part of their HubSpot for Startups program.

Of the announcement, HubSpot Account Manager Mike Castillo said, “We are thrilled to welcome Parallel18 to HubSpot for Startups. As a as a certified accelerator, they’ve added a valuable tool to their arsenal, and can now help their startups grow by purchasing HubSpot’s award-winning marketing and sales software at a mere fraction of its regular cost.

Over the past 6 months, Paralle18 has grown its business by providing startups with the tools they need to grow theirs. Parallel18 consists of a 5-months intense acceleration program in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with 2 cohorts per year of up to 40 global startups each. The selected companies receive an equity free grant of US$40,000, delivered in two sets of $20,000. In exchange, startup founders engage with local universities to teach and mentor students on a regular basis.

Directed by the former Executive Director of Start-Up Chile Sebastian Vidal, Parallel18 was launched in 2015 as a collaborative effort of Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, the Department of Economic Development and the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company to help diversify and jumpstart economic development amid the island’s current debt crisis.

“Entrepreneurs are problem-solvers by nature,” said Vidal. “Inviting them to Puerto Rico will not only help to foster a culture of innovation, they may also aid in finding better solutions to the crisis the island’s been facing for so long and help give the island an economic rebirth.”

Applications for Parallel18’s second cohort are currently open and will be accepted until June 13 at 11:59 p.m. (EST) through YouNoodle’s platform here.

Applicants for Parallel18’s second generation must be technology-enabled companies founded within the past three years that are truly innovating their space and have ambition to scale worldwide. Current participants include Nineteenth Amendment, Inbify and SAMY ROAD.

Parallel18 received 415 applications for its first generation in January of 2016, and kicked-off the program on April 18 with 36 companies from 9 countries.
